I have been following the work and story of Michael Santos for years, going back to the first posts on his website, and his first published books. His uniqude understanding of the prison industry , the United States "War on drugs" & the issue's faced by those caught up in the unfeeling , & often corrupt criminal justice system are not only educational , but of equal value for people learning about the system Santos's books are always very interesting and i usually read them straight through . Michel Santos is a living example of how someone can even through the worst of situations both reconcile with society and live through the most demeaning situations with honour , transparency and dignity. Though i know many people thought he would not be able to after his release, Michael has kept his commitments to the life that he said he would live. I have read every book that Michael has published an owned copies of the actual printed bookd, I am now as i can afford it buying all his books in e-book format so they will be in my cloud, & through that process re-reading his works. i find them as captivating and educational now as they were the first time i read them. If you, or a loved one are facing incarceration or you're trying to learn about the American criminal justice system from the inside, Michael Santos's body of work should be required reading .
Not my favorite of his books, just a lot of numbers and less personal experience
I recommend his other book "Inside"

'Prison! My 8344th day' by Michael Santos is a good account of prison life and very well written. a good read.
I had high expectations for this book after reading INSIDELife behind bars, however I was disappointed. It was very repetitious. My interest decreased as I continued through the book.
